His Surpassing Beauty

As we go through each day, tending to the tasks and callings of the moments that pass, we can often bypass the deeper, truer things that call for our attention. One of those things is the pure Beauty of God.

This is what I’d like to invite you to meditate on today.

Below, I have selected two passages from the Book of Revelation, both of which give us but a taste - and what a wondrous taste - of the surpassing Beauty of our Lord and Savior. His majesty, royalty, valor and sovereign power are so clearly shown in these revelations to John.
In this meditation, I’d like to invite you to ask Him, what it truly means to be made in His image, and how to steward the glorious dignity, beauty and honor that He has bestowed on you as His creation and as His adopted Daughter. Then, you may ask Him for eyes to see His Beauty better, with more clarity and faith.

Let this guide you to rest in the confidence of the beauty that the Lord has created you with, and that from the King of glory there is no lack. Let it break the worldly programming of chasing after vanities to achieve a false sense of fleeting beauty.

“After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne stood in heaven, with one seated on the throne. And he who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian, and around the throne was a rainbow that had the appearance of an emerald. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, with golden crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning, and rumblings and peals of thunder, and before the throne were burning seven torches of fire, which are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal.” — Revelation 4:1-6

“Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! The one sitting on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war. His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are many diadems, and he has a name written that no one knows but himself. He is clothed in a robe dipped inblood, and the name by which he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and he will rulethem with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.” — Revelation 19:11-16
