All For Him, To Him

“For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” — Matthew 6:13b

The last verse of the Lord’s Prayer leads us to yield everything back into the hands of God in full worship and wonder. He is the God to whom all belongs — the kingdom, the power and the glory.

“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein,” — Psalm 24:1

When we rightly position ourselves before the Lord, as this prayer invites and guides us to in righteousness, we remember who He is. The God of the Bible is the God over all the heavens and the earth. After we have made the petitions, recognized our relationship to Him as our Father, prayed against the evil that may tempt us, and more… we may surrender it all to the One who is in control.

What do you want to yield to God today, and how can you honor Him as God, giving Him appropriate honor, glory and praise as He deserves? God can do much with a willing heart and a little bit of surrender…

In our femininity, this may mean choosing an outfit that cultivates respect for the Lord rather than exalting your body or being flashy. To submit our dressing ourselves under the rightful reign of God and to keep in mind eternity and His Kingdom when choosing our adornments. It may mean surrendering our plans for the day and allowing the Lord to bring interruptions in the form of children’s needs, a burden to minister the gospel to your neighbour or someone in need, or to rest at His feet for a while reading the Word.

We can understand this latter part of the verse, included in some translations, with its predecessor as well — “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”. Understanding that the kingdom, glory and honor belongs to God is understanding, in its context, His sovereign leadership and powerful grace in delivering us from evil.

I pray this leads you to deeper wonder and awe at who He is, for you and for the world.

So as we end this prayer and this series, let us reflect on what a privilege that we get to worship the One who is Love. And let us honor the call to give our all for the sake of Love, who is above all.

As we await His return…
